Photo a Day: Bryan Cryder

bryan-1-of-1resized.jpg

Today’s photograph is of my friend Bryan. This was one of the first portraits taken with my 85mm f1.4 lens. This also uses a modification of the “300″ preset that I used on the shots of Carolyn a while back.

Shooting with the 85mm f1.4 can be tough, especially in autofocus on my nikon d50. The d50 seems to have some focusing issues, everylens is a little different but back focusing has been a big issues. From unusable backfocusing on my tamron 28-75, to minor back focusing on my 50mm f1.4. I’m sure that this problem will go away with the D300, should be in my hands by late june. :-)  Anyways, the lens is SUPER sharp and really handles beautifully as  a portrait lens. With a 35mm equivalent to a 127mm f1.4, I really can’t complain. The above shot was taken at f3.2 and ISO400.

Until tomorrow,
