Kim’s new toy: Pentax K100D Super
January 11, 2008
At $400 USD for a DSLR kit, it wasn’t a difficult choice that the Pentax K100D Super is the best deal around. Not only is it a DSLR, but one with image stabilization built into the body and a self-cleaning-image-sensor, this is truly an amazing deal. Luckily $400 was my girlfriend Kim’s budget. She paid about as much for the entire kit new as I paid for my Nikon D50 body refurbished! We ordered the camera through BHPhotovideo.com it was $499 with a $100 mail in rebate good until 1/31/08. I placed the order at around 4 pm on thursday, with standard UPS shipping, and it arrived around 3pm the following day (today.)
The camera is small, a little too small for my hands, but perfect for Kim’s hands. The lightweight body feels very sturdy and solid. There is no noticable flex anywhere. Simply put it’s an attractive, solid, light digital camera.
We’ve only fired off a shots here inside a dark house. I don’t want to use the flash shots as a real measure for image quality. But from what I can tell right now it’s a tad noisier than my D50. I will be posting a much more in depth comparison between my D50 and the K100D once I get time to really shoot, etc.
Bottom line: if you are in the market for a DSLR you cannot go wrong with the Pentax K100D Super.
