Ho, ho, ho…

Above is a Christmas picture that I took of Kimmy, Joey, Skeeter, and Penny. I used bounce flash pointed slightly forward to illuminate the scene. It was freaking impossible to get the cat and dog to pay attention to my camera.

This weekend I also played with my new Nikon FM, film camera. I took a few shots of Penny, the dog in the picture above, and Kimmy, the beautiful young lady in the picture above. I don’t really know why I can’t fill a roll of film in a week, but I can shoot 200+ shots on digital in an hour… I can’t wait to fill this roll and take a look at some prints.

What a great shot! A Christmas card?

If you put as much thought into each shot with a manual-set digital camera as you are with a film Nikon, you wouldn’t take 200+ shots in that mode, either.

It’s why large-format film photographers using sheet film (e.g. 4×5) can leave home with enough film for 12 photos. And why I used to shoot a whole football game with a three 12-frame rolls of film.
