I’m finally home! Getting off of the plane in two degree weather was quite the shock to my system, but overall I’m glad to be home. I’m going to miss the weather and all the wonderful people we met on our ten day excursion but there’s something nice being home. Unfortunately I have some bad news. My grandmother is now in hospice, she isn’t expected to be with us through the end of the week. I can only look back and think that this wonderful woman would be happy to see me, like her son and husband, snapping away. Happy.
So here’s the second gallery of our trip from Mexico.

Well, our vacation in Mexico is finally coming to an end. Yesterday we said goodbye to a great group of people: the Nichols and crew. Coming from Utah, Idaho, Texas, and more? this big-happy-family was a lot of fun. They took me in as a segregate son for the week: dinners, snorkeling, shows, etc, and could not have been nicer. This gallery is dedicated to the whole family. The shots range from around the Hotel Allegro to the town of Playa del Carmen and our adventure to Xel-Ha.
This is my first post of 2008 so I hope everyone had a fun and safe new year!

A few days ago we got to take the ferry over to Cozumel. I brought along the camera and took a bunch of candids. I think I did a decent job, my first real street shots. Don’t forget to check out the posts of Becca below, I double posted today because the internet is very spotty here.

Today was another fun day here in Mexico, and another chance to shoot some great portraits of my sister. I shot most of these shots using an external flash set to manual difused with my gold room key-card provided by the hotel (may have to take this with me). I’m going to do an article on using this card in a little bit because it was really, really handy.
During this shoot we worked on new poses. I tried composing each shot with a specific “mood” in mind. Rebecca did an excellent job in trying a variety of different face and body expressions.

Here are some great “glamor” shots of my sister Becca. All of these were with an older cannon flash unit bounced off of a gold card, which incidentally is our room key! I think the shots came out well, you?

These are all shots from Mexico. The monkey is a monkey that the resort uses to try to sell photos to tourists. Basically I got yelled at by the “resort photographer” because I wasn’t supposed to take pictures of the monkey, he wanted me to pay him 25 bucks for a print. I just kept shooting. Here are some shots. The shots of Becca, My mom, and I were shot in pitch black with just my Dad’s cannon tl-3000? flash unit. The homo-sapians in the shots are a family from Montana that we met up with.
