Abandoned Syrian Headquarters

Talk about a treat! The photography inside this abandoned Syrian headquarters was amazing.

I know that this update from my trip to Israel is long overdue. I just have been strapped for time lately at between school and the basketball games. I’m not sure if people understand the amount of time I put in to not only going to the game and shooting, but setting up, breaking down, editing, and maintaining the site. Ugh, I guess this is just me ranting.

Anyways. My last two or three days were spent up in the Golan Heights. While there my cousin Alon took me for an ATV ride. During the ride we were able to stop at these old abandoned Syrian headquarters. Little did he know how long that stop would be. I ventured out with my dad’s Tokina 17mm and took a bunch of shots. Then I convinced him that we should return the next day with my 50mm F1.4. Thankfully he was game. One of the cool things he told me was that there were eucalyptus trees around the headquarters. Apparently in 1964 an Israeli spy told the Syrains to plant these trees around their important buildings. He told them that they provided shade and cover, this way no one would detect their headquarters. When the war came Israeli bombers took out every patch of eucalyptus trees. Pretty smart. So here are the results of those two long shoots:

    Hey Aaron-
You have a gift for shooting interiors, and apparently abandoned buildings. If I can make a request, I’d like to see you do an inhabited building, but using the same eye and techniques that you used here.
And I have this for you too.

    Love you.

Fantastic eye-Perhaps by circamstance, but the colour pallette on these shots is beautiful. B/W offers evokes and aesthetic emotion than no other medium. Keep up the good work- Very Proud of you- XO
